Technology Policy

Delegates in all committees other than the UNSC will be prohibited from using digital devices such as laptops and tablets at all times during committee sessions, including during unmoderated caucuses. Resolutions must be handwritten and all research should be printed. Delegates in the UNSC will be permitted to use laptops, but will not be provided with internet access, so delegates should ensure that their research is available offline. It is strongly recommended that delegates print off their research in case of difficulties with technology.

Writing Resolutions Out of Committee

Creating pre-written resolutions allows some delegates to gain an unfair advantage and is not conducive to debate and discussion. As such, delegates are prohibited from writing resolutions prior to the first committee session. If a resolution is suspected of being prewritten, committee chairs will consult the sponsors of the resolution and determine appropriate disciplinary action. Delegates are urged not to do substantial resolution writing overnight between the first and second days of committee, but delegates may make minor edits to existing working papers if necessary.

Dress Code

Delegates are expected to dress in proper western business attire.

Awards

Each committee will issue between 3 and 7 delegate awards to recognize exemplary delegates. Awards will be decided by the staff of each committee, and will be granted to delegates with strong speaking and diplomacy skills who accurately represented their country's policies on relevant issues. Delegation awards, which are granted to a specific country and all the delegates representing it, will also be issued. One overall best delegation award will be given, recognizing the delegation with the strongest overall delegates, and awards will also be provided for the best delegations in the regions of the Americas, Africa, Europe, and Asia and the Pacific. This conference will also have a Secretary General's award, which recognizes the best individual delegate at the conference.

A number of different criteria will be used when determining awards. Firstly, delegates will be judged based on the delivery and content of their speeches. Speeches that control the flow of debate and introduce new ideas to the committee will be looked particularly well upon. Delegates will also be judged on their backroom performance. Delegates who are actively involved in leading discussions during unmod and write detailed, comprehensive working papers will have a better chance of winning awards. All of your speeches and working papers are expected to adhere to your country’s foreign policy; if they don’t, it will reflect poorly upon your delegation.
